Sterling Dynamic Ropes

Sterling Dynamic Ropes are designed to be firm, round, strong, and built to last. Sterling does this with Better Braid TechnologyTM, by putting more twist in individual sheath yarns and utilizing their Precision Manufacturing. More twist exposes less of each yarn to wear so the sheath won't fuzz up. It also aligns the sheath yarns in the direction of the load from a fall. More twist in the cores reduces the impact force and gives Sterling high fall ratings.

Only Sterling ropes have DryCore. DryCore is just that - dry cores. The core is the strength and power of your rope. A wet rope is not fun, not only does it become heavy and cumbersome, but more importantly and less obviously, your rope will lose that critical strength and stretch may increase. Even if you dry treat your rope, the effects of abrasion and use will lessen its effectiveness over time.

This won't happen with Sterling's DryCore because of the proprietary process used to enhance the fiber. Since the core represents about 70% or more of the weight of the rope, almost three quarters of your Sterling rope is ALWAYS dry. This is a unique safety feature that only Sterling offers. With DryCore, your rope will maintain its superior stretch and strength characteristics.

Sterling Static Ropes

Typical static ropes are made on 16 - or 32 - carrier machines with less twist in the cover yarns. These ropes have a much coarser, bumpier hand, which exposes much of the yarn to abrasion causing early rope retirement. Sterling's unique sheath produces a rope with a more supple hand, making it easier to deploy during rescue operations.

The smoother sheath finish reduces vibration allowing for more control during lowering and extrication procedures. And, with the 48-carrier sheath, less yarn is exposed to abrasion, giving you a longer lasting rope. In addition, with less bulk in the sheath, we can add more yarns to the core giving you a stronger rope.

The other most significant difference between Sterling's SuperStatic and all others is DryCoreTM. Rescue technicians never know where and under what conditions (wind, rain, snow) the next rescue will occur, but with DryCore, their ropes will stay dry, supple and strong. Certified to current CE and NFPA life safety standards by SGS Yarsley International 0120.

Sterling 3/8" (10mm) Super Static

Certification and Designation information:e A: Rope for use in rescue, rope access, work positioning or as a working or security line for work at height. In the latter case, it is used for access to the place of work in combination with other items of equipment, or to undertake work under tension or suspension on the rope. Type B: Rope of lesser diameter and strength than Type A, demanding greater precautions and attention to security during use. In certain work at height, or rescue situations, you may need to use dynamic ropes, for example, in setting up anchors. If you may be exposed to positions where the rope could take a factor fall greater than 0.3, it is imperative to use a dynamic rope (EN892). If you have any questions concerning this or other rope-use issues, always consult the rope manufacturer's manual or discuss with a certified rescue professional.

CE standards for rope use designation. NFPA Life Safety Rope Standards use general use and light use categories.

High Tenacity Polyester Static Ropes

Sterling's 100% polyester HTP Static™ Rope has become an important and integral addition to most rescue and industrial organizations, equipment needs. HTP offers many significant advantages over standard nylon static ropes in certain applications. Polyester is a naturally high strength, durable and dry fiber.

In Sterling's unique construction, the HTP offers the highest tensile strength for ropes in its size. It also resists moisture and provides greater durability than previously attainable. HTP offers greater resistance from UV and certain chemicals, has low electrical conductivity, and remains supple after repeated use. Continued field research and actual rescue applications have shown that polyester ropes may be the best ropes for many mainline raises and lowers and most trackline applications. The supple handling, high strength and low stretch (less than 1% stretch per 300-pound load) characteristics of HTP means less work and no re-tensioning of the highline or trackline is required. Lowering and extrication systems are far more efficient with HTP because the low stretch and high strength characteristics make extra ropes unnecessary. And, since HTP Static is a naturally dry product, your ropes will always stay dry, maintaining performance and weight. The 7/16" and 1/2" feature the same 48-carrier construction as Sterling's nylon SuperStatic. The 3/8" and 5/8" HTP ropes are manufactured with a unique 40-carrier sheath providing great handling and superior durability.
